Data Collected

As with most websites we collect certain information, even when you are not logged in.  If you visit our site to browse, read, or download information, the Law Lab collects data including but not limited to your IP address, URL request, browser type, the time and date of your request, and the domain name and host from which you accessed the Internet.

Information You Provide

When you register for an account, The Law Lab will request personally identifiable information. This information may be used in any of the manners indicated below, and may include, but is not limited to, personal names, e-mail addresses, location, and occupation.

Use of Data Collected and Provided

The Law Lab collects and records both passive data and information provided by users to perform research, improve usability of the site, and to administer mailing lists, online communities, events and other Law Lab services. The Law Lab analyzes traffic in various ways, including using Google Analytics. (Google Analytics is subject to the privacy policy of Google, Inc., which you can read here.) Such services analyze data in the aggregate; we do not track information on which pages an individual user visits. We do not collect any other information without your knowledge and permission.

Disclosure of Information

The Law Lab reserves the right to share user information with our partners and affiliates that are committed to serving your need for the services and improving the user experience of the Law Lab. We require such third parties to abide by the standards of this Privacy Policy.

Additionally, the Law Lab may be required by law or court order to disclose information you submit. We may need to disclose user information to law enforcement or other government officials if appropriate for your protection, or in connection with an investigation of fraud, intellectual property infringement, or other activity that is illegal or may expose the Law Lab or its users to legal liability.

In the event such disclosure is required we will provide you with notice (unless such notice is impracticable or is prohibited) that a request for your information has been made so that you may object to the disclosure. We will send this notice by e-mail to the address you have given us. We prefer to independently object to over-broad requests for access to information about users of our site, but we cannot assure you that we will be able to do so in all cases. If you do not challenge the disclosure yourself, we may be legally required to turn over your information.

Underage Users

The Law Lab website content is intended for adults. We will not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years old. If we discover that we have collected any personally identifying information from a child under the age of 13 we will remove that information from our records as soon as possible.

If you are under 13 years of age do not use the Lab Law website, and do not send the Law Lab any information about yourself, including your name, address, telephone number or e-mail address. If you are a parent or legal guardian of a child under the age of 13 who you believe has submitted personal information to the Law Lab, please contact us immediately.

Posting Content

Posting or updating content is a public action, and all content may be publicly visible. Identification of all contributed content may include, but is not limited to, display of your account name or IP address. All content may be retained for restorative, archival, or research purposes by the Law Lab. Editing or deleting content may alter the displayed state of content, but will not permanently delete content from the website.

Security

The site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control. However, the Law Lab cannot guarantee your confidential use of this site. The Law Lab shall not be responsible for any harm that you or any person may suffer as a result of a breach of confidentiality in respect to your use of this site or any information you transmitted to this site.

If you lose control over your account password you may lose control over your personal information, and may be responsible for any legally binding actions taken on your behalf. Therefore, if your password has been compromised for any reason, you should immediately change your password.

Third-Party Users and Websites

Material on this website may link to independently run websites outside the lawlab.org domain. The Law Lab is not responsible for the privacy, practices, or content of such websites. In addition, we disclaim responsibility for any and all information provided by other users or third parties that is made available through the Law Lab website. Such information may contain errors, internal or otherwise, or may be offensive, inappropriate or inaccurate.

Because the Law Lab does not control the privacy practices of third party websites, you are subject to these privacy policies and customs. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of any website you visit from this website before you disclose personal information to third parties.
